Memorial to Zhou Enlai and Deng Yingchao

The Memorial to Zhou Enlai (1898-1976) and Deng Yingchao (1904-1992)–opened in 1998 in the southern part of Tianjin–is dedicated to the memory of their early revolutionary activities. The exhibition consists of three parts, presenting in the first one the life and revolutionary achievements of the PRC’s long-term premier (人民总理周恩来, People’s Premier Zhou EnlaI) and the role of Deng Yingchao, characterized as the pioneer of 20th century Chinese womens’s movement (邓颖超——20世纪中国妇女运动的先驱) (see here).

The second exhibition hall offers reproductions of original furnitures and relics once used by the couple (see the list , and the third Zhou Enlai’s special plane, a IL-14 donated to him by the government of the Soviet Union in August 1957 (today a second class national historical relic).

It is part of the nation-wide sites for patriotic education, a red tourism site, as well as a national education base of anticorruption” (as stated on the homepage of the memorial). It became a red site in 2005.
